Night two of GOOSE at the Ryman, plus some lino block process action!! Typesetting the middle poster was simply just inverting all of the blocks so that the type dripped upwards and not downwards, and then flipping the Ryman block upside down into meltdown. I am very curious to see if any of these get framed upside down in the future.
I had spent most of January doing practice linoleum block carvings in preparation for doing some carving at Hatch, so I was really stoked to dive into this Ryman block. After an initial failed chemical transfer of the sketch, I ended up retracing all of it as a carbon transfer and then sunk three-ish days into the carving itself. The Byrd’s Sweetheart of the Rodeo was listened to many times during those three-ish days. Thinking about how something that I carved is now a part of Hatch’s legendary 140-year-old collection of image blocks… That thought is going to live rent-free in my head forever.
