The sixth and final print that I got to put together during my time at Hatch Show Print, a personal project that was started and finished during my final two days of the internship.
This was my first experiment with pressure printing - by cutting out a stencil of another image (the waffle) and then sandwiching it between the final print and the Vandercook cylinder, you can imprint the stencil image onto that current layer while printing. It’s an elegant trick to get more detail without adding more print layers; I had been curious about pressure printing and was stoked to put one to press.
I am very grateful for the time I spent in Hatch’s legendary space and have become friends with the wonderfully talented artists there. I went home feeling artistically inspired for the first time in a very long time.
